Nicola du Pisanie

Nicola is a founding Partner at Stonewood Design.
Nicola has previously worked at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and Arup Associates in the UK and Rodney Harber Associates in South Africa.
She has a passion for working with simple and appropriate technologies and recently worked with an orphanage at Siyathuthuka in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa to build a series of external and play spaces.
Nicola is a Visiting Critic at the University of Bath School of Architecture.
Nicola is leading the design of a Garden Museum within a woodland, which is currently under construction. She is also designing a museum to view Roman archaeology, alongside a Roman Villa reconstruction.

Matt is a Partner at Stonewood Design.
Matt has a particular expertise in sustainable design, and during his career has delivered a number of highly regarded RIBA Award winning buildings across the UK.
Matt has previously worked at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Arup Associates and Battle McCarthy Environmental Engineers.
He has also lectured internationally over a number of years on the subject of environmental design and is a design critic at the University of Bath School of Architecture.
Matt has most recently led the design of a high quality housing scheme in Swindon, and has been working closely with Real World Studios in Box to deliver a sustainable new housing and workplace project.

Adam is a Partner at Stonewood Design.
Adam has previously worked at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Cartwright Pickard Architects and the Hockerton Housing Project Association in Nottinghamshire.
He has delivered a number of key projects at Stonewood Design, including the RIBA Award winning Myrtle Cottage Garden Studio, and the Pod Gallery.
Adam is a design critic at the University of Bath School of Architecture.
Adam has most recently led the delivery of a new Prep School and Nursery for Kingswood School in Bath.
BArch(Hons) MArch PG.Dip ARB
Having initially worked at Stonewood Design in 2010, Ross rejoined as Associate Partner in 2018 and leads our London office.
His previous experience includes over seven years at Alison Brooks Architects where he was responsible for the delivery of a six-hundred square meter private house in Hampstead and a £65.5m residential development in South Kilburn.
Ross previously worked at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios in Bath on projects in the education sector. During his time there, Ross worked with Nicola, Matt and Adam and contributed towards the realisation of a sandbag built prototype home - later to be built as homes and school for the Topnaar Community in the Namib desert.
Ross is now overseeing a number of projects in London.

Vanessa graduated from the University of Bath in 1999, and joined Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios.
Vanessa is currently working on the delivery of a new Garden Museum project for Stonewood Design.
Vanessa combines her time with Stonewood Design with a Teaching Fellow post at University of Bath, Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, where she tutors 4th year students.

Matt joined Stonewood Design on completing his Masters in Architecture at Bath University.
Matt has previously worked at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Wilkinson Eyre and Latitude Architects.
Matt has a particular expertise in the design of one-off houses, and is currently working on a new house in Bruton, Somerset.
BA (Hons) Architecture
Alice joined Stonewood Design as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant in 2017. She has previously worked at Latham Architects in Nottingham having graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth in 2016.
In her time at Stonewood, Alice has worked on the later stages of the design process including producing drawings for tender and for construction. She has worked on smaller projects such as a painting studio for a local artist as well as larger museum and school projects.
BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology and Design ACIAT
Joe joined Stonewood Design after completing his degree at the University of the West of England.
He previously worked at Heriz-Payne Architects, Glastonbury over a period of two years and also gained valuable experience at Glenn Howells Architects, London, in between study years at University.
Joe brings a great technical experience to the practice which ensures that we deliver beautiful and exquisite detailing to our buildings.
Joe is currently delivering a new build and refurbishment house project on a significant site in Bath.
BSc (Hons) 1st Class, BArch Distinction 1st Class, RIBA Part III, MA Ceramics Distinction
Anne graduated from the University of Bath in 1994 and joined Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios. She was a partner from 1998-2005 working on various building types including arts, housing and interior projects.
With two young children and a passion for making things, Anne studied for an MA in ceramics before joining the University of Bath in 2008 as a part-time teaching fellow in the School of Architecture and Engineering, where she currently tutors 3rd, 4th and 6th year students. Anne is enjoying combining this with working on a variety of projects at Stonewood Design.
Anne and her husband Mike Keys won an RIBA SouthWest award 2017 for their contemporary home in Bath, which was also featured on Grand Designs House of the Year.
BA (Hons) MArch (Distinction)
Dan joined Stonewood Design after completing his Part 2 at the University of the West of England, where he earned a Distinction and was nominated for the RIBA President’s Silver Medal.
Dan has previously worked for Yiangou Architects in the Cotswolds, and Ferguson Mann in Bristol.
During his time at Stonewood Design, Dan has led the planning stage for a housing and workplace scheme in Box. He is now leading a project converting barns into staff accommodation in Somerset.
MEng Architecture and Environmental Design (First Class), MArch
Hana has previously worked at Dixon Jones and Panter Hudspith Architects in London.
During her studies at Nottingham University Hana was involved in a volunteer project in Limpopo, South Africa, on the design and build of a nursery school.
For her Masters project at the University of Bath, Hana designed a seed vault and traditional medicine clinic in Hout Bay, South Africa, using the unique environmental conditions as the driver for its form, and the needs of the community to inform the space.
Hana wrote her dissertation on the small architectural interventions that can increase safety in Cape Town’s townships.
Hana is currently working on the design of a Roman Villa Museum.
Celia De Villiers

Oliver has previously worked at Proctor and Matthew, where he worked on residential projects at Horsted Park and Alisio House, and at WilkinsonEyre, where he was involved in the design and construction of new office and research buildings at the Dyson Campus in Malmesbury, Wiltshire
Oliver is currently working on the design of a Museum in Cornwall.
BA(Hons) and MArchD (Distinction)
Celia studied at Oxford Brookes University where she was awarded a RIBA Dissertation Medal Nomination for research that explored ideas of space, body and movement in ballet and architecture. This was inspired by an interest in research-led design and drawing from other art disciplines to inform architecture.
Her University projects included a dance centre and a deployable mixed reality nightclub.
She previously worked at BrightSpace Architects in Hampshire.
Celia is currently working on the design of a Roman Villa Museum.
BEng (Hons) Architecture and Engineering
Theo joined Stonewood Design after completing his Part I Degree at the University of the West of England, Bristol, for which he gained first class honours.
At UWE Theo studied Architecture and Environmental Engineering, a dual accredited course gaining both Part I and CIBSE accreditation.
Theo worked as a labourer for Graham Bizley (Prewett Bizley Architects) on his RIBA National Award winning Passivhaus in Dundon, Somerset.
Theo is currently working on the design of a new community of houses and workplace for Real World Studios in Box

Daisy joined Stonewood Design as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant. She graduated from the Canterbury School of Architecture, where she achieved a First Class degree. During the course, Daisy spent 6 months at Sydney University of Technology.
For her degree project, “A Moon with a View”, Daisy designed a moon mining research facility in Copenhagen.
During her time at Stonewood Design, Daisy has worked across a number of projects at various stages. She has also helped lead the production of display models of some of our key projects.
Stephen joined Stonewood Design in 2014, having studied at Bath University. Stephen's thesis project was for the design of a dementia centre in Weston-super-Mare.
Prior to his time at Stonewood Design, Stephen worked at HPW Architecture in Southampton, where he was involved in the design of residential and retail schemes.
Stephen enjoys the detailed design and delivery of projects, and has contributed to a wide variety of schemes whilst at Stonewood Design. He most recently worked on the delivery of Prep and Pre-Prep facilities at an independent school in Bath.
