River Avon House

A contemporary new-build house in the centre of Bath, along the banks of the River Avon.

The design cuts into the sloping landscape, creating a half-submerged lower level, and living and bedroom levels with extraordinary views out to the river and to the city.

This topography is then described through the choice of external materials:
A “grounded” lower level, render in natural lime. An upper level “wrap”, clad in western red cedar, which will weather to a beautiful silver colour, further blending with the tones of Georgian Bath.

An exquisitely detailed interior includes a beautiful timber staircase, connecting the three levels, and good visual connection throughout.

The project was completed December 2014.
