Lower Westwood

To address the need for affordable holiday lets for families who require a safe space for relaxation, close to the many tourist attractions of Bath and Wiltshire, we worked up a scheme on a beautifully landscaped farm site in Lower Westwood, near Bradford on Avon.

In addressing the protected status of the area the proposed design places a timber agricultural type building within the contours of the landscape.

The premise is that the south facing roof would incorporate photovoltaic panels so as to make the proposal as sustainable as possible. This roof would oversail a small covered area for each of three holiday units. Dark panels are proposed which will further reduce the impact on the setting.

The scheme works with the topography of the site to present a low scaled building from the road, and to open out to the landscape to the south.
