Hatherop Performing Arts Centre

Hatherop Castle School is a day and boarding prep school and nursery for boys and girls.

The school’s brief was to provide a hall for 200 pupils, with associated stage, storage, foyer and seating, and to accommodate a separate dance studio if possible.

The Performing Arts Centre will be nestled among the trees near to the entrance at Hatherop Castle School. There is a “wow factor“ on first arriving at the school and seeing the main school building. The New Performing Arts Centre is tucked away, but is noticed once parked at the school entrance, or on leaving. So a second “wow factor” is offered, as a counterpoint to the first, and a strong message and lasting impression is given about the status and intentions of the school - history and future.

The Performing Arts Centre is conceived as a “barn” type structure, clad in timber; modern, contextual, sensitive, and elegant.
