We are Stonewood Design. We are an award-winning architectural practice, based in Castle Combe, just outside of Bath.

We received a RIBA National Award, for our project Myrtle Cottage Garden Studio. This award celebrates architecture of the very highest level. The project demonstrates a sensitive approach to a beautiful landscape setting.

We were named BD Small Project Architect of the Year 2016.

We are now busy delivering our next generation of projects which include a school, a museum, housing, a workplace and a number of one-off houses.

Our workload is diverse, but is connected by our interest in Craft and Context.

Our work is founded in building. We enjoy how things are put together and care passionately about the detail; a beautiful timber stair, or the sparkle of sunlight from a well placed window.

As a practice we can be nimble, light-footed and fresh in reacting to your needs and the requirements of your project.

We always enjoy a close working relationship with our clients, developing ideas iteratively to ensure that we realise the full potential and maximise the opportunities of the particular project.

We work by listening.

We pride ourselves in being able to develop a vision for your project which reflects your requirements, whilst ensuring that we all enjoy the process along the way.

We have a track record of successful planning permissions and listed building consents, be it a contemporary new home or breathing life into a historic farm building.

We are able to offer you the benefit and expertise of working closely with Stonewood Builders, our sister company. We can provide you with a fully integrated “turnkey” service from the inception of your project through to completion. Equally, we can provide a traditional architectural service, wholly independent from Stonewood Builders.

Stonewood Design is led by Nicola du Pisanie, Matt Vaudin and Adam Chambers.
